Growing up in Southern California, I've always appreciated blue skies, snow-capped mountains, and sunny beaches. After graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles, I decided to stay in LA to pursue opportunities to mentor college students while also building the start of a career in medicine. I worked as an ophthalmic technician (that's a fancy way of saying an eye clinic tech) before and going into the COVID-19 pandemic, and I got to see firsthand the challenges that the pandemic brought on the medical system. Through different personal life events, I ended up deciding during the pandemic that I wanted the ability to be closer to family and friends, and as a result, I began to learn the fundamentals of computer science so that I could break into the world of software engineering. On my journey, I've become adept with Node-based frameworks like React and Svelte, not to mention vanilla JavaScript and the HTML/CSS combo. Over the past two years, as an engineer at Corelation, Inc., I've also gained mastery over databases using DB2 SQL and Java to manipulate data and script out batch processes.
